  • Chairing and Serving on Public Health and Wellness Committees

    Demonstrated sustained leadership and community engagement through active service on eleven committees, including chairing two, supporting public health, wellness, and policy initiatives at the local and regional levels. Served as Chairperson of the Mayland Health Advisory Board, leading strategic planning efforts focused on improving student health outcomes. Co chaired the Mitchell County Relay for Life, directing fundraising initiatives to advance cancer research and community awareness. Contributed to the Mitchell County Wellness Center Development Committee, supporting exploration of a countywide wellness center to expand access to health resources. Additionally participated in the Live Fit Cape Fear Committee and the Cape Fear Health Policy Council, promoting active living, healthy lifestyles, and health policy advocacy. Further committee service included the Mitchell County Health Partnership Nutrition and Physical Activity Task Forces, the Schools Health Advisory Committee, and the Safety Coalition, collaborating across sectors to address critical public health needs and drive sustainable community outcomes.

  • Supporting Fundraising Operations and Donor Growth in Healthcare

    Supported development operations at the Duke Cancer Institute by contributing to day to day fundraising activities and the execution of multiple development initiatives. Built proficiency in Blackbaud fundraising software, demonstrating adaptability to industry standard tools and data systems. Additionally designed and launched the “52 Campaign” in 2012, an innovative donor engagement initiative that encouraged first time donors to contribute one dollar per week.

  • Coordinating a Community 5K to Support Hurricane Recovery Efforts

  • Assessing Tobacco Free Workplace Policies Through Countywide Data Collection

    Conducted a countywide business survey in Mitchell County in 2009 to assess the adoption of tobacco free workplace policies. Collected and analyzed data from 115 businesses, including 91 organizations with tobacco free policies and 24 without such policies. The findings provided critical insight into local policy adoption trends and supported public health planning, awareness, and tobacco prevention efforts across the community.

  • Using Strategic Multimedia to Expand Awareness of a Community Farmer’s Market

    Conceptualized, produced, and edited a promotional video for the Cooperative Extension Farmer’s Market, using strategic multimedia storytelling to highlight the market’s mission, offerings, and community value. The project enhanced public awareness, increased community engagement, and supported participation in a local food access initiative.
